This is truly shaping up to be a historical year for our industry in terms of landscape changes - the QIIP is set to re-open, the US EB-5's recent changes are finally being understood, digested and implemented, St. Kitts & Nevis has completely overhauled their regulations, many European programs are closing or going through major modifications, the US has seemingly shut the E2 backdoor, and more.

On January 27, 2023, the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) held its latest draw for the Entrepreneur Stream.  This marked the second draw in the last five weeks, and the fifth draw since the beginning of 2022.  Encouragingly, the minimum score for those invited, dropped to 137 compared to a minimum score of 152 on March 4 2022.

Over the last several years, we have been delighted to accompany several clients and their immigration practitioners through the OINP Entrepreneur Stream process.  The Entrepreneur Stream is an excellent choice for any foreign national who is interested in doing business in Ontario. The minimum investment threshold is only $200,000 (outside of the GTA), and while there are priority sectors, the OINP accepts business proposals in a wide variety of industries.

The Antigua & Barbuda CIP has benefited tremendously from the recent changes that have been made in some of the other Caribbean programs; it remains the most consistent and stable program, and no changes are expected anytime soon.


Definition of Dependents
It continues to be the most financially-attractive option for families of any size and it offers the most flexible definition for dependents.
In addition to the usual dependents, a Principal Applicant could bring all of the following under ONE application:

  • Unmarried Sibling (zero other conditions - age, children, financial dependence are not important)
  • Spouse of dependent child
  • Grand-child (Child of dependent child)

Consider the following examples, of which we see similar variations:

  • One 35 year old Principal Applicant (PA) has a spouse and two kids, plus PA's and Spouse's parents, unmarried brothers and sisters (PA and Spouse's).
  • PA and Spouse have kids under 30 who are married and have children of their own (PA's grandchildren). The whole family could all apply in one application.

For a family of six, the total price is only US$150,000 (plus standard due diligence and other fees) and we offer a very attractive commission.

5-day Visit & Oath
The 5-day visit requirement continues to be waived until June 30, 2023.

We're excited to report that the area is developing according to the long-term masterplan for this part of the island, and the group is currently planning their next significant hotel investment. Stay tuned for updates on this exciting development!

On December 26th, 2022, the Government of St. Kitts & Nevis announced sweeping changes to their Citizenship by Investment Program, which became effective in January.Just about every aspect of the program has been affected by this announcement. This is a quick overview of the main changes:

  • Discontinuation of all real estate projects (developers must re-apply to qualify)
  • Implementation of a Limited Time Offer for the SGF Contribution option until June 30, 2023
  • reduced pricing
  • 60-day fast-track processing for applications
  • Modifications of applicable government fees
  • Revised definitions for dependents
  • Appointment of a new CEO of the Citizenship by Investment Unit
  • New governance structures for the program, namely the implementation of a Board of Governors and Technical Committee

As a result, we no longer offer Golden Rock Commercial Park as an investment option and focus solely on assisting our partners and their clients with the SGF Contribution option for the time being. With St. Kitts' continued popularity, our unique service level, and commission structure, we're confident that the St. Kitts SGF Contribution option will continue to be in high demand.

The Federal Government of Canada has implemented restrictions on foreign real estate buyers which have come into effect for a two year period beginning January 1, 2023 until December 31, 2024. This does not affect foreign buyers who have entered into preliminary purchase agreements prior to this year.
